Filters Tab - Help
Data can be filtered to include only the variables of interest, where you can specify stand size, stand origin, stand age class, forest type or productivity, ownership, and measurement year. These filters are positive in the sense that they will retrieve only the data that you select.
Here you see each filter displayed as a box titled with “user friendly name = the database column name” followed by a list of available variables. You can find information about each database column name in the FIA Database Documentation. Navigate to the FIA's Index of Column Names to decipher the column names and then cross reference the appropriate table for a thorough explanation of each field.
To activate a filter, check the box. Choose an element from the filter list. To select/deselect multiple elements of a filter list, hold the Control key down while left clicking the element.
Filter status is displayed at the top of the output window. A
default filter ensures that only data from Forestland are included in
analyses. This filter cannot be deactivated.

This includes silvicultural treatments and any human disturbance that effects at least 25% of the trees. This is derived from other codes available in the FIADB.
Some filters (ex: forest type code, stand age) are not consistently available for all states. Gradually add filters to your analysis.
Example (continued): If you wanted to investigate live tree carbon by county only for the Eastern White Pine forest type:
